Initiative on Energy Law and Policy

In light of the German Energy Transition, the increasing Europeanization of the energy industry and the globally tangible developments in the US energy sector, Bucerius Law School is strengthening its expertise in the energy industry with an Initiative on Energy Law and Policy.

An international and practice-oriented platform

Based on consideration of the key challenges faced in the energy sector and the innovative approaches to finding solutions, Bucerius Law School has founded the Initiative to create an international and practice oriented platform to encourage open discussion in this area. The Initiative is open to students and researchers as well as to practitioners and members of the public with an interest in the energy sector.

Chairman of the Initiative on Energy Law and Policy is Dr. Werner Schnappauf, Academic Director from Bucerius Law School is Professor Dr. Michael Fehling.

About the Energy Circle

A committee of experts from the Energy Circle provides advice and suggests ideas to the Initiative. In addition to renowned researchers from the field of energy law, the circle is comprised of experts and practitioners from politics, industry, as well as members of relevant interest groups.

The Energy Circle meets annually and its members enjoy access to the circle of friends of Bucerius Law School and are cordially invited to participate actively in the Law School community and benefit from its varied and numerous offerings.

Key-Event: Bucerius Energy Law Day

The Bucerius Energy Law Day is the main event organised by the Initiative on Energy Law and Policy. The conference, which examines key issues in energy law, is held annually on the campus of Bucerius Law School.

Besides our Energy Law Day we regularly organize evening lectures on a variety of energy law and policy issues both at Bucerius Law School in Hamburg and at different venues in Berlin.
