Professor Dr. Dana Beldiman

Academic Director and Founder

Professor Dr. Dana Beldiman is the Academic Director and Founder of the Center for Transnational IP, Media and Technology Law and Policy and Honorary Professor at Bucerius Law School. She also directs the Bucerius / UC Hastings Summer Program in International IP Transactions.

Beldiman serves as a Professor in Residence at UC Hastings (San Francisco, USA) and regularly lectures at CEIPI of University of Strasbourg. Her teaching and research are focused on international, comparative and policy aspects of intellectual property, as well as the issues confronting trademark, design and licensing law in a globalized economy. She is a partner of the law firm Squire Patton Boggs (San Francisco, USA), where she specializes in international intellectual property law and international transactions.

She is the author of numerous publications on topics relating to globalized intellectual property and is active in a variety of organizations.

Previously, Beldiman has taught at Santa Clara University School of Law (Santa Clara, USA), the Riga Graduate School of Law (Riga, Latvia), Humboldt University of Berlin and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (Beijing, China).

She holds an M.A. degree from the University of Bucharest, a J.D. from UC Hastings, an LL.M. in intellectual property from Santa Clara University School of Law and a doctorate in law from the University of Bremen.

Beldiman serves as the Honorary Consul General of Romania in San Francisco, USA.

Executive Director

Karsten Windler is the Executive Director of the Center for Transnational IP, Media and Technology Law and Policy.

He studied law at Bucerius Law School and National University of Singapore as well as business at Benedictine College (Atchison, USA) and WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management (Vallendar, Germany). Windler holds an LL.B. degree from Bucerius Law School and an MLB from WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management.

Before joining the Center for Transnational IP, Media and Technology Law and Policy in 2012, he has already gained various work experience in press, public relations and business development. In January 2015 he was appointed Executive Director of the Center.

Professor Dr. Kristoff M. Ritlewski

He completed his legal studies in Konstanz and Hamburg, passing the state examinations in 2005 and 2010. In 2005 he obtained an LL.M. degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law and in 2008 he acquired his doctorate ("Pluralistic Policies in Broadcasting Regulations") from University of Mainz. Since 2009, he is the Counsel of the "IP and Media Law Initiative" at Bucerius Law School where he accounts for the Bucerius IP Lecture Series.

Professor Dr. Kristoff Ritlewski holds the Chair of Intellectual Property, Copyright, Competition and Antitrust Law at the University of Applied Sciences "Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft Berlin". He has written several publications on intellectual property law and policy, media regulation and international arbitration.

Professor Dr. Linda Kuschel holds the Junior Professorship for Civil Law, Intellectual Property Law, and Law and Digitalization since June 2019. Her research at the Center for Transnational IP, Media and Technology Law and Policy is focused on copyright law and its international aspects.
