Successful cooperation with WIPO continues

Since 2018, Bucerius Law School has partnered with the World Intellectual Property Organization in offering a summer program in licensing transactions in intellectual property law.

Education & Study |

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is the global forum for intellectual property services, policy, information and cooperation. Considering the increasing importance of intellectual property worldwide in the development of economy, technology, society and culture, Bucerius and its Center for IP, Media and Technology Law and Policy are thrilled to have been successfully working together with WIPO to foster human resources development in the field of intellectual property.

Expert knowledge

Each year, approx. 30 young lawyers from all over the world complete the practice-oriented short term program on licensing transactions. Through the cooperation with WIPO, participants have access to an exclusive web-based course offered by WIPO that they are expected to complete before the start of the program. This online preparation fosters their understanding of basic IP concepts and thus perfectly prepares everyone for an exchange and in-deep discussion in on-side classes ahead. One of which, IP Aspects of Technology Transactions, is taught by WIPO expert Allison Mages, Head of the IP Commercialization Section.

Program Co-Director Professor Dana Beldiman: “The cooperation with WIPO allows our program to draw from renowned experts in the field of intellectual property and gives participants most valuable insights.”

Student insight

One past participant shared this insight into their experience: "I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking to really challenge their capabilities—theoretically, socially and practically. By the end of the program, I can confidently say that I walked away with not only new legal knowledge but people skills and a global network too."
