MLB student Ayça at Law Without Walls in Segovia

Cemre Ayça Sarıdoğan attended the LWOW Sprint to find innovative solutions to pressing issues at the intersection of law+business+technology

Education & Study |

From 25 – 27 March 2022 Cemre Ayça Sarıdoğan, a Turkish Master of Law and Business student at Bucerius Law School took part in the three day LWOW Sprint event hosted by IE University in Segovia.  Over the course of 3 intense and challenging days, talented, multidisciplinary teams made up of a mix of intergenerational legal and business professionals, academics, and law/business school students from around the world worked together to solve real business-of-law problems and social responsibility challenges.

The Sprint 2022 followed the innovative 3-4-5 method (3 Phases-48 Hacking Hours-5 Stages) and included collaboration exercises, intensive hacking as well as a mini-composium. Ayça talked to us about her experience.

Why did you chose to participate?

I already knew about Law Without Walls even before I was admitted to the MLB program. After we had the introduction session with Prof. Larsen during the orientation week, I knew that I wanted to participate in such a program at the intersection of law and technology.

What´s the first thing that comes to your mind when thinking about the LWOW experience?

If I could describe it with just a word, it would be “Spectacular!”. I had the best 3 days in Segovia, every minute of it was innovative, challenging and so much fun!

How intensive was the preparation for the pitches?

I can say that all 3 days were intensive, but it is a part of the LWOW experience. On the first day we were all thinking that it wouldn’t  be possible to  pitch a solution to our problem in just 3 days, but the structure was so well thought out that we managed to present it at the end of those 3 days and had so much fun during our presentations.

What inspired you most on this tournament?

Diversity! Working with so many professionals and students from all around the world inspired me the most. Their thoughts and contributions to each topic were extraordinary.

Will you stay in touch with your team members?

I think once you have participated in LWOW it is hard to not have bonds with everyone. It is amazing that you can become really good friends with lots of people even in just 3 days! I am planning to join LWOW for the next years as a volunteer and continue to be a part of the community!
