Hi Bas, from which country did you come to Bucerius Law School?
I am from the Netherlands.
What was your experience coming to Hamburg for the first time? Which impressions did you gain of the city?
What impressed me most, is how much the city has to offer. From the modern HafenCity to the Reeperbahn. From Altona-Ottensen to Winterhude and of course the Außenalster and the city centre. I enjoy the wide choice of events, bars and sights to go to each week in Hamburg.
You already studied Engineering at Windesheim University. Why did you choose to study this subject?
The choice of my bachelor program came from my interest in both engineering and business in the industrial sector. The industrial management program of Windesheim suited my ambitions and interests best. The focus was on gaining knowledge about both worlds: engineering and business.
What was your job before moving to Hamburg?
I worked in the procurement department of the Volkswagen Group in Wolfsburg, Germany. Throughout the 7 years I worked there, I was the lead buyer for several product groups.
Why did you decide to get an MLB? How do you think having an MLB is going to help you pursue your career goals?
I wanted to broaden my horizon, further develop my business knowledge and gaining an understanding of the legal world. The MLB will help me to qualify for a broader variety of positions in both big corporations and small companies.
What made you specifically choose Bucerius Law School to pursue an MLB?
The decisive arguments for me, were both the collaboration between the Bucerius Law School and the WHU and the strong academic curriculum: learning about all phases of an enterprise from a business and legal perspective, in the 10-modules plus the flexibility of the program through electives and an internship.
Furthermore, I wanted a challenging master program; both the legal courses and the high pace of the program (4 weeks per module) make it very challenging.
